Four of five rural communities have voted in favour of a tax hike to pay for a new regional rink in Hampton, according to the Telegraph-Journal.
The local service districts of Hampton, Norton, Upham and Springfield all voted yes on the $18 million rink. They will see a maximum increase of $30 per $100,000 of assessment to pay for it. Kingston voted against and its residents will have to pay higher user fees if they want to use the facilities.
