The North End Food Bank may be closing its doors soon.
Organizers say they can’t keep up with the exploding demand, especially with the influx of families who’ve lost their jobs in western Canada. Co-ordinator Hazel Clarke told the CBC there’s been a 42% spike in demand over last year. They’re also expecting more people to come in as temperatures drop and heating bills rise.
Clarke estimates they only have about six weeks worth of food on the shelves….and the busy Christmas season is coming up as well.
