1985 saw the internet’s domain name system created along with the UK’s first cellular mobile network. Back to the Future was released. The Live Aid concert was broadcast round the world. As we enjoyed the early fall of 1985, we were listening to Kool and the Gang and George Michael.
Sunday’s 70’s Countdown: OCTOBER 3, 1970
8 am – 11 am
A total eclipse of the sun impacted the Maritimes in 1970. Richard Hatfield became premier of New Brunswick. 1970 was a year of cars. Chevrolet introduced its second version of the Camaro while America Motors debuted the Gremlin. Not to be outdone, Ford launched the Pinto. The average price of a new home in Canada was $23,000. The Beatles disbanded. The jumbo jet-the 747-took to the skies. The first Earth Day was celebrated and the world’s population was 3.5 billion. In the fall of 1970, we were listening to Free and Tony Orlando & Dawn.
