Saturday’s 80’s Countdown: AUGUST 22, 1987
8 am – noon

Ronald Reagan tells Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall. We said goodbye to paper one-dollar bills as the Loonie was introduced. On the medical front, Prozac, the anti-depressant was added to approved drug lists. George Michael and U2 were in the Top 40 this summer weekend in 1987.



Sunday’s 70’s Countdown: AUGUST 19, 1972
8 am – 11 am

In 1972 it was Richard Nixon and the Vietnam War in the headlines. Women were allowed to compete in the Boston Marathon for the first time. Bobby Fischer beat Boris Spassky to become world chess champion. Mash, the Beachcombers and Marketplace all debuted on TV. In the late summer of 1972, we were listening to music by the Hollies and Looking Glass.
