1985 saw the internet’s domain name system created along with the UK’s first cellular mobile network. Back to the Future was released. The Live Aid concert was broadcast round the world. As we enjoyed the summer of 1985, we were listening to Paul Young and the Eurythmics.
Sunday’s 70’s Countdown: JULY 20, 1974
8 am – 11 am
It sounded like it could have been a good promotion in 1974. The Cleveland Indians baseball team had a 10-cent beer night. They had to forfeit their game after the alcohol infused violence spread from the stands to the field. The universal product code was used for the first time with Wrigley’s gum being the first product that could be scanned with its barcode. Watergate was all over the news as Richard Nixon was forced to resign. George McCrea had a big hit and Paper Lace were on the Top 40 this week in 1974.
