Saturday’s 80’s Countdown: APRIL 26, 1980
8 am – noon

Canada was instrumental in getting 6 American hostages out of Iran. The separation referendum in Quebec was defeated with 60% against separation. CNN launched in 1980 and a tragic fire at the MGM in Las Vegas killed 85 people. Gary Numan and Dr. Hook were on the Top 40 countdown this week 40 years ago.

 

 

Sunday’s 70’s Countdown: APRIL 27, 1974
8 am – 11 am

Happy Days debuts on television while the last episode of the Brady Bunch airs. Muhammad Ali beats George Foreman in the “Ruble in the Jungle” and Richard Nixon resigns as president of the US. A novelty song by Ray Stevens and new group Blue Swede were in the Top 40 countdown this week back in 1974.
