The Commodore 64 home computer was a big seller. The UK and Argentina went to war over the Falkland Islands. It was the year Prince William was born and the year that Dominion Day was renamed to Canada Day. Paul Davis and “Pack-Man Fever” were riding high in the music charts.

 

 

Sunday’s 70’s Countdown: April 14, 1979
8 am – 11 am

1979 saw many firsts, like the introduction of the compact disc and Happy Meals at McDonalds. The Dukes of Hazzard and the Littlest Hobo started up in 1979 and Joe Clark became Canada’s youngest Prime Minister, although he didn’t last too long. In the early spring of 1979, songs on the radio included hits by the Doobie Brothers the Village People.
