This Weekend on Casey Kasem’s Top 40 Countdown

Saturday’s 80’s Countdown: NOVEMBER 9, 1985
8 am – noon

The charity single We are the World was released to benefit African famine relief. Big shows on television in 1985 were Miami Vice, Family Ties and The Cosby Show. Big movies in 1985 were Rocky 4, Back to the Future and The Colour Purple and on radio, Starship and ABC were in this week’s top 40.

Sunday’s 70’s Countdown: NOVEMBER 13, 1976
8 am – 11 am

The Eaton’s catalogue was discontinued. Canadian parliament voted to abolish the death penalty and over 1 million Canadians took to the streets to protest wage and price controls. Hard to believe, but one of the big songs this week in 1976 was Disco Duck (the video quacks me up) and Rod Stewart hit the charts yet again.
