This Weekend on Casey Kasem’s Top 40 Countdown

Saturday’s 80’s Countdown: OCTOBER 12, 1985
8 am – noon

Rick Hansen stated his Man in Motion Tour and would end up with 26 million dollars raised for research. New Coke was released and was dropped 3 months later. DNA was used for the first time in a criminal trial and Back to the Future was big at the movie box office. Two legends, Mick Jagger and David Bowie, got together for Dancing in the Street and Ready for the World were in the Top 40 countdown that week.

 

 

Sunday’s 70’s Countdown: OCTOBER 15, 1977
8 am – 11 am

1977 saw Pierre Trudeau separate from his wife Margaret Sinclair. TV shows that came to an end included Pig and Whistle and Howie Meeker’s Hockey School. Apple Computer was incorporated. Star Wars opened in movie theatres. Elvis Presley performed his last concert on June 26th and died in August. KC and the Sunshine continued pumping out the hits, as we also heard a new band- Heatwave.
